According to ASUS marketing blurb, the ROG Equalizer is a 12V-2x6 PCIe cable "designed for maximum thermal safety, physical durability, and enhanced graphics card protection" - features that would probably go a long way in helping to counter the issues that have been plaguing the 12V-2x6 graphics card power connector.

(Press Release) ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) 26.announced that power supplies in the Thor III and Strix Platinum series are now bundled with the ROG Equalizer 12V-2x6 PCIe® power cable. This cable features a 17-amp peak capacity that maintains a critical thermal margin, even under extreme conditions. Current owners of these power supplies who made their purchase before the inclusion of this cable can enter the serial number of their power supply on this ASUS web page to see if their device qualifies for a special discount code. This offer runs from May 28 to November 28, 2026.
The ROG Equalizer cable is backed by a three-year warranty, whether it is bundled with a power supply or obtained through the upgrade program. Both black and white versions of the cable will be available in Q2 2026.
What Makes the ROG Equalizer Cable Different
For the ROG Equalizer, ASUS went back to the basics to establish a new GPU power cable design that is better suited for today’s high-performance graphics cards. The patented redesign exceeds the current endurance of reference designs, maintaining connector temperatures below the material-rated threshold of 105°C to deliver a longer lifespan than conventional cables.
With the ROG Equalizer, load capacity is also significantly increased. Standard 12V-2x6 cables are rated for 9.2 amps per wire, while ROG Equalizer cables boost current capacity to 17A per wire. This is designed to improve the handling of short-term current peaks that may be produced by high-end graphics cards during extreme overclocking or when otherwise drawing a high amount of wattage from the power supply.]
This enhanced design improves durability under 600-watt continuous loads for a significantly longer lifespan than conventional cables, industry-leading reliability, and stable power delivery.
The ROG Equalizer is constructed with tin-plated oxygen-free copper cables that offer ultra-high conductivity, low resistance, low heat generation, and high ductility and bendability. Under extreme conditions where a 600-watt load is sustained by only two active pins, conventional cables may be subject to increased thermal stress over extended operation. However, the ROG Equalizer effectively keeps both the cable and graphics card connector temperatures consistently below the 105°C safety limit.
This cable even stands out against competing models designed for heightened protection. Some competitor solutions employ an alarm-based system as their first line of defense, requiring users to manually shut down their PC and reseat the cable when a power anomaly is detected. The design of the ROG Equalizer minimizes the likelihood of anomalies while complementing the monitoring systems already in place with many ROG graphics cards.
Proven to Beat the Heat
To simulate the potential current imbalance that may occur with a standard 12V-2x6 PCIe cable, ROG conducted a test where it removed the middle four wires from the cable. Temperatures of 146°C were observed, greatly exceeding the 105°C material limit; but under the same testing conditions, the ROG Equalizer maintained a temperature of approximately 87.8°C.
In an extreme test scenario with sweltering 55°C ambient temperatures and a constant 600-watt power draw through the cable over ten days, the ROG Equalizer performed admirably. After the first hour, cable temperatures settled around 100°C and then hardly wavered, never once exceeding the 105°C material limit.

Broad Compatibility and Easy Installation
The ROG Equalizer employs a 12V-2x6 interface, and it is fully compliant with ATX 3.1 and PCIe® 5.1 specifications—so it supports the latest power standards even as it safely handles extreme power excursions. It actually supports total power excursions at up to twice the rated power and graphics card power excursions at up to three times the rated power.
The ROG Equalizer is compatible with power supplies from all leading manufacturers. Simply swap out an existing 12V-2x6 cable to add an extra layer of protection. Installing and managing the cable is easy. The connector has a purple design that gives users a clear visual indicator when the connector is properly inserted. The embossed cables are made using a highly pliable material that is easy to route. Plus, an included cable comb provides enhanced flexibility for cable routing.
The ROG Equalizer and GPU Tweak III Power Detector+ Together
For ultimate peace of mind, ASUS recommends pairing the ROG Equalizer with a graphics card that supports per-pin monitoring through the Power Detector+ feature in the GPU Tweak III performance tuning app. This feature is currently supported by the ROG Astral GeForce RTX™ 50 Series graphics cards, ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090, and ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 4090 Platinum.
While such support is not necessary to take advantage of the ROG Equalizer, it does provide a second layer of protection. With a compatible graphics card, GPU Tweak III can track the amperage for each pin of the 12V-2x6 connector to confirm that the connector is seated properly and working as intended. If the current for any pin drops to 0 amps or exceeds the safe upper limit, users will get a popup warning alerting them that attention is needed.
By combining the ROG Equalizer’s direct, hardware-level protection with real-time software monitoring, users will have a system that continuously tracks power behavior and responds instantly to abnormal conditions. This dual-layer approach enhances overall system safety and provides greater stability under demanding workloads, giving users the confidence to push performance, run intensive creative tasks, and game without limits.
